Detroit Labs

As the Architect, Interior Designer and Historic Consultant on growing technology start-up Detroit Labs, Kraemer Design Group built out a flexible office space within the framework of a 1920s downtown Detroit building. Keeping the history in mind, our team created a collaborative space that is both “contemporary cool” and “vintage-industrial” by repurposing the building’s raw materials. In 2019, we revisited our old work and expanded the space to include conference rooms, break-out spaces, open-air booths, privacy rooms, a revamped reception area, dedicated shower rooms and new flooring throughout. Upon completion, we achieved a project where the old and new blend to get together to create a cohesive office greater than the sum of its parts.
