Denby High School

As the Architect, Interior Designer and Historic Consultant of Detroit's Denby High School, Kraemer Design Group designed a complete interior renovation of the 1930 building, as well as additions including a new main entrance, cafeteria, senior student lounge and College Suite counseling center. The renovations aimed to bring a fresh and updated look to the high school’s interior, while restoring many of its historic finishes—including all of the original wood floors and casework in the classrooms and the ornate auditorium space. The renovation also served to update many of the electrical and mechanical systems to 21st century standards. The historic steel, concrete and masonry structure is part of the Detroit Public School system and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
