Malcomson Building

As the Architect, Interior Designer & Historic Consultant on the Malcomson Building, Kraemer Design Group transformed a historic downtown Detroit structure into 25 elegant apartment units and two first-floor retail and restaurant tenants. Renovated to its original 1906 appearance, the building brightens the streetscape with its white glazed brick and expansive store glass, and its simple symmetry and Gothic details lend an elegant background to the activity in the park. Completed in 2016, this project kicked off a broader effort by KDG and many others to revitalize the city’s now-vibrant Capitol Park Historic District.
