The renewed energy of the Capitol Park Historic District is palpable at the Malcomson Building. The 2015 adaptive reuse of this 110-year-old building by 1215 Griswold, LLC, and its team initiated market-rate housing in the neighborhood while restoring the elegance of a significant, historic keystone property in Capitol Park. Renovated to its original 1906 appearance, the building brightens the streetscape with its white glazed brick and expansive storefront glass, and its simple symmetry and Gothic details lend an elegant background to the activity in the park. The residential entrance is the central feature of the exterior vestibule. At each of the five residential floors, bike racks line the corridor in front of a bold, but classic, graphic pattern unique to each floor. One-, two- and three-bedroom apartment types invite individuals, couples and small families to settle into life on the park.
